Youngest sailor to complete a Solo Circumnavigation of the WorldDutch teenager Laura Dekker on January 21, 2012 became the youngest sailor to complete a solo circumnavigation of the world. The 16 year old Dekker sailed into harbour on the Caribbean Island of St. Martin. She left the Island on September 20, 2011 and surpassed the previous record by eight months.
